Mactivity 0.9 beta is ready to test. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so it installs like any other Mac app. Tell us what breaks, what's missing, and whether the numbers hold up on your Mac.

Version 0.9 beta, about 7 MB. For Macs with Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later.

Install

1. Open the download and drag Mactivity onto the Applications folder in the window that appears.
2. Open Mactivity from Applications. macOS asks once whether to open an app downloaded from the internet; click Open.
3. Optional: to let the storage map see every folder, add Mactivity in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access. Without it, macOS asks once for each protected folder, and anything you don't allow shows as “Not readable”.

What to test

• Leave it in the menu bar for a day. Try each display in Settings → Menu Bar: icon, figure, graph, and stacked. Tell us if anything shifts, looks stale, or reads wrong.
• Open the menu bar window, Settings, and the first-launch sheet. Anything that looks out of place in light or dark mode, or with Reduce Transparency or Increase Contrast on.
• Compare a few apps with Activity Monitor. The figures should be close.
• History: pick a range and check “vs previous” on a strip's top apps.
• Quit or Force Quit an app from its row, and stop a dev server you started from Projects. Each should ask first.
• Cover or minimize the main window, then check Mactivity's own CPU. It should drop back to near idle.
• On macOS 26? Everything. Our measurements are from macOS 27, so reports from 26 help most.
• Desktop widgets: add Mactivity's widgets from the desktop's Edit Widgets menu. They should show the same figures as the menu bar.
• Updates: Mactivity → Check for Updates… should say you're up to date. New betas arrive this way.
• If you're comfortable: turn on Settings → General → “Per-app volume (experimental)”, grant audio access, and change one app's volume, mute it, or send it to headphones. Unplug and replug them, then quit and reopen both apps; the settings should come back.

Email feedback@mactivity.app. Include your Mac model, your macOS version, the menu bar display you use, and what you did before it went wrong. A screenshot helps; crop out anything private, like file paths or project names.

New builds will go up on this page. Mactivity doesn't collect anything, so your email is the only way we hear from you.

Known limits

• Other users' and system processes can't be inspected or quit without the optional helper. They still count in the system totals.
• Per-app audio is experimental and off until you turn it on in Settings → General.
